For the last twelve years, we have enjoyed holidays in this comfortable home in the beautiful
Andalusian village of Jimera de Libar. Situated on the edge of a national park in Spain with easy
access to Ronda with city shopping and services (just half an hour away by comfortable train or 35
minutes by car). A few minutes walk from the railway station platform, the house is one of a small
complex. There are good cycling and hiking trails, river bathing in summer virtually on the
doorstep, fishing and birdwatching.
There is a regularly tended communal garden and lighting,
exterior painting, white with ochre trim, paid for by the very reasonable 10� community charge per
month.
This just might be the house for you in Spain.
A townhouse of 90 square meters on two floors, it was built in 2000. Tile floors throughout, with
wood trim on the stairs.
There are roller blinds on the two upstairs windows.
The ground level has a 7m x 3m living room/dining room with a fireplace.
The fireplace is wood-burning in a new glass insert . There is an air conditioning unit in the
sittingroom. The internet reception here is excellent.
Three steps up from the living room is the kitchen, approximately 2.5m X 3m, with tiled walls to the
ceiling. The window looks onto a small patio and the walnut orchard next door.
Upstairs is a full bathroom with bath, sink, WC, and bidet.
It`s tiled floor to ceiling, white with a patterned band at shoulder height.
The front bedroom is approximately 3m X 3.7m, with french doors onto a tiny balcony.
Standing on the balcony, you have a view of the mountains.
The rear bedroom is smaller, roughly 3m x 3m with a window looking onto the walnut orchard next
door.
There is one hall cupboard for storage.
Power is supplied by Endesa, and normally the bills are paid by direct-debit from your Spanish
bank account.
The company has customer service offices in Ronda.
The bill is deducted from your Spanish bank account by direct debit every two months.
Communidad fees are 10 euros per month. Property taxes are currently less than 100 euros per
year, paid by direct-debit agreement from your Spanish bank account.
There is a good restaurant close by that serves full meals, and a bar that serves coffee, drinks,
tapas, and pub food. The bar often has excellent live music events. Up the hill, in the village, is the
town hall (with an activity centre, various classes, a social services office, etc.), a small market, a
bar, a bank branch, a pharmacy, a Catholic church, a butcher, and a primary school. Halfway up the
hill is the stunning municipal pool, open in summer.
The cafe-bar adjacent to the pool is good and reasonable. The closest medical centre, which also
has a 24h hour emergency service, is in Cortes de la Frontera, about ten minutes away by car. For
more serious care, there is a hospital in Ronda.
My lawyer in Malaga can handle the contract and the conveyance paperwork; he speaks excellent
English.
